| | BOB BLYTHE – Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals I have been playing Guitar for approximately 35 years (way more than I care to admit to). My love of music and natural talent has enabled me to tour throughout the U.S. for several years with a country music group in the late 70’s and I have played in numerous bands since. I am a music instructor at Royal Jam Music, Lehighton, Pa and a father of two great kids, Rose and Rob. My son has put together his first band "Themz Guys",they are going strong, I am so proud! My music Heroes and Heroines are Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Lowell George, Johnny Colla, Blondie, Sarah McLachlan, Liz Phair, Ann & Nancy Wilson, Norah Jones and BEATS WORKIN’!!
| | JIM SIVEL, RPT - Guitar, Vocals Long time neurotic blues man, I help round out the sound of this unconventional family in my own special way… just ask me! With my (fire surviving) Stratocasters and Les Paul (that’s a guitar, not the man) I add a dimension of hillbilly soul to this melting pot of musicality. My parents, a ragtime piano player and a poet, prepared me well for a life of artistic endeavors. Born on the seventh day of the Seventh month, I reluctantly admit that I am a hoochie-coochie man. I knew this early on and decided then to squander years of guitar lessons and my parent’s money. My guitar instructor has been quoted as saying things like “We’ll...you’ve come a bit of a way Jim” and also, “Jim, stop putting mayonnaise in my peanut butter” as well as, “What the heck was that?”, “That’s mighty fancy pickin’ your doin’ there son, but it ain’t the blues”. In true paranoid “blues neurotic” form, I am convinced that my instructor leaves town for three months a year due to the stressful nature of teaching me. Surrounded by music, I tune and repair pianos. As a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) I stay current with my skills by studying and sharing my knowledge with others in the Piano Technicians Guild. Tuning is a wonderful career that allows me to spend time with my musical pursuits and my family. This Beats Workin' family fills my heart with gratitude. Boy do we love to play!
| | PAMELA CARBONARA - Keyboard-Vocals I have been playing piano for 30 years, but didn’t start pursing my musical career until later in life. I was born into a musical family and have a natural talent. After private lessons, I was given the opportunity to study at Granoff School of Music in Philadelphia for one year, where classical composition and performance were studied. However, I found my heart and soul belonged to rock-n-roll, (and o.k.) Frank Sinatra and Glen Miller too! Involved in growing my family (two beautiful daughters Jacque & Jeni) it wasn’t until the past ten years that I started to actively play. Since that time I have been playing professionally for cocktail hours, wedding ceremonies, receptions, anniversary parties, etc. One night, at a local bar and grill, I stumbled upon a great band called Beats Workin’ in dire need of a keyboard player we talked, I auditioned, they said yes and here I am! What an incredible experience this has been for me, a goal in my life accomplished. I love this band and the enjoyment we all get making music together. I want to thank Tani, Bob, Gina, Mike and Jim for accepting me into their family. It just goes to show that it is truly “never to late”!

| | Michael Hughes - Drums I’ve been playing drums since the young age of 5. I’ve played in several bands along the way, such as my first band ever formed out of the Jr. high school music class called “The All* Rite Band”. Then on to a second band out of music class at the same school called “Epitaph” (we were a li’l dark trying to find ourselves). I also played for my dad’s country & western band called “Ben Hughes and the Ramblin’ Men”, which made a record; the songs were “Big, Big Favor” and “I’d like to try”. From that I got to play with some other country artist such as “Southern Express”, “U.S. Country”, “Mom Miller and the Boys”, “Neighbors Complaint” (original band), which I still play with from time to time - we actually opened a show in 1986 for “The Chimes”, their hit “Once in a while” and “The Boxtops”, their hit “The letter”. I also played with “Rusty Dogs”, a country rock band, and am now currently playing with Beats Workin’; a band playing “classic rock, country, pop and a little of everything in between”, as Bob Blythe likes to say. Some of my favorite drummers, both living and dead, are Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Alan White (Yes), Neil Peart (Rush), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Carl Palmer (E.L.P.), Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac), Joe Vitale, Ron Grinel, Russ Kunkle, all who played drums with Joe Walsh on the album “SO WHAT” (love that album!) and there are way to many more to mention…but you get the idea. Equipment: DW drums (Drum Workshop) DW stands and other misc stands, Zildjian/Sabian cymbals and a Wuhan china cymbal. Profession: Own a 3rd Generation Pest Control Company Hobbies: Music (of course) Boating, Drawing and Painting, Camping…etc. Residing: Jenkintown, Pa. |
